put using qmgr alias

Hi We have a QMGR alias defined for a remote QMGR (with xmitq etc but blank rname). And our app uses that while doing the put. Is it possible to bypass/avoid 0 byte file processing/pick up from MQ MFT monitor other than setting the option "match pattern and file size exceeds" and then setting the value equal to 1 byte?
